Roots Ensemble

Christopher Mark Jones & The Roots Ensemble is Christopher’s full-band performance group in Southwestern Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. The band does originals from the catalogue of Christopher Mark Jones’ five albums and—in less formal environments--selected covers by artists like Keb Mo, John Hiatt, The Band, Taj Mahal, Mose Allison, and Tom Waits. Christopher has busked in Paris, toured Europe and the U.S. as a songwriter, and led bands in Boston and Pittsburgh. Other members include Vince Camut (electric and pedal steel guitars), a Johnstown native and Berklee School of Music graduate, a full-time guitar teacher who has played in country bands, with Tracy Drach, Ben Shannon and Heather Kropf and is an in-demand session player; Eric Kurtzrock (drums and vocals) a producer, engineer and session player, who played jazz, rock and bluegrass in New York City and San Francisco before returning to his native Pittsburgh, and Jim Spears (bass), a technical writer who has played with Bill Toms, Stevee Wellons, Marc Reisman and B.E. Taylor, among many others. as well as appearing on four CMJ albums.
